Your MUD Board Needs You! Submit your Application by 4/3/23 at 5 PM

The Williamson - Travis Counties MUD 1 Board of Directors is seeking to fill one Board vacancy. The Board will appoint one Director to serve the remainder of the term which ends in November 2024. The Texas Water Code 49.105. Vacancies describes the process for filling a vacancy.

WHAT IS THE MUD

The MUD is a local government with a primary responsibility to provide water utility services to the District. The city of Cedar Park provides our clean water and treats our wastewater. This MUD does not operate facilities that do this. However, we do have 3 lift stations that we are responsible for maintaining along with requirements and obligations for a healthy storm water system. We also have parks, ponds, and trails to maintain. We have several contracted employees that take care of these services.

RESPONSIBILITY OF MUD BOARD MEMBER

Board members are responsible for providing effective leadership that enables staff to develop and implement necessary managerial programs, policies, procedures, and plans, and as such are expected to attend Board meetings and participate in Board activities regularly. Board members ensure the District is staffed appropriately, well maintained, meets all state and federal requirements, and is prepared to serve the current and future needs of the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Texas Water Code Section 54.102 States: To be qualified to serve as a director, a person shall be at least 18 years old, a resident citizen of the State of Texas, and either own land subject to taxation in the district or be a qualified voter within the district.

Anyone interested in serving on the Board of Directors should provide a one-page letter of interest to include:

1) Your reasons for wanting to serve on the Board 2) Experiences that would qualify you for this position (for example finance, communications, records management, water infrastructure, planning, landscape, conservation) 3) Areas of improvement
